Round 1 of the 2008 Colin Appleyard British Solo Trials Championsip

The Lochaber Motor Cycle Club staged Round 1 of the Colin Appleyard British Solo Trials Championship at Kinlochleven on Sunday April 13th in wet conditions.

Those conditions contributed to a higher score line than envisaged by the organising team, and provided a shock result in the Championship class. Scarborough and Preston electricians Michael Brown and Shaun Morris battled with Leeds International James Dabill on the three lap course, a course bounded by the still waters of Loch Leven.

At the end of a tough event Brown took the class, but only on a tie-breaker from Dabill. The Scarborough contender rode twelve sections without penalties, four more than Dabill. Reigning champion Graham Jarvis never got on terms after a poor opening lap.

Seventeen year old Halifax rider Jack Challoner won the Expert class from Lynton’s Joe Baker and Beta-UK rider Ben Hemingway.

The non-championship Youth riders rode the Expert course with Lakelander Jonny Walker winning from Richmond’s Jonathan Richardson and Derbyshire youngster Jack Thompson.
