The Chris Carter Trophy Trial

Mike Hinch also had the advance weather picture for the region which forecast that it was to be sunny initially then more snow and sub zero temperatures after lunch.

"If we had opted to run we would never have got a hundred vehicles out of Dob Park. The minor roads would be impassable, as they were early Sunday. James and Andrew had worked hard to prepare the trials course. It was with great regret that they decided that the conditions were just too bad to try and run the Novogar trial. With great disappointment, and at such a late hour, the Clerk of Course decided that cancellation was the only option. We did try and contact as many riders and Officials as possible. To those we could not contact, the Club offers sincere apologies. Whether Yeadon Guiseley will try for another date has not yet been considered" commented Mike Hinch - co-owner of Dob Park, and Senior Club Official.

Event Secretary Margaret Carter echoed the words from Mike Hinch. " I am devastated that the Chris Carter Novogar Trial has had to be cancelled. You know how much this trial means to Andrew and I, and all of Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club. Everyone has worked so hard, it has been an emotional roller-coaster. The decision was not taken lightly. Access to Dob Park was atrocious at 07.00 and safety of our riders is paramount. Many of the section groups were at isolated venues. It was impossible to assess whether the roads, with extreme gradients,  would be cleared and gritted. The annoying aspect was that the sun came out and the snow started to thaw - so frustrating. Our apologies to everyone. We attempted to contact all competitors and Officials but appreciate that some competitors travelled to Yorkshire on Saturday, and some arrived to find the event cancelled. The Club will consider running the event, after a Commitee Meeting,  subject to the A.C.U. Trials and Enduro Committee considering an application, and finding a suitable date. I can't imagine what my Brian is saying - he would probably have pulled some strings, and would have negotiated the snowfall for a later date !"
