The three ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy riders who attended the training day received virtually one to one coaching from Clive Horton and Nigel Bosworth and were given help with suspension set up and advice on corner exit techniques and braking.

The twelve 125 riders, split between ACU Dunlop Tyres Motrac Sport Production and ACU Dunlop Tyres Colin Appleyard 125 Academy Cup bikes, spent their morning working on cornering, with a focus on getting their entry speed correct and increasing their exit speed.  Along with the 600 boys, the afternoon was spent experimenting with suspension settings and experiencing how they alter the bikes performance.

Throughout the day, parents and team members were asked to help by keeping accurate records of setting changes, lap times and overall mileage.

By the end of the day, most of the riders had covered over 150 miles of dry Pembrey track and learnt more in one day than in the rest of the season.

Academy Manager Dave Luscombe was delighted by the result of the days work,
“Whilst it is very disappointing that only 15 riders took advantage of this free track time, those that took advantage of this priceless opportunity have benefited massively,” explained Luscombe.  “I am sure that the lessons learned from Horton and Bosworth will knock literally seconds off lap times during the rest of the season,” he continued.

As a reward for the effort put in by both riders and parents, the Academy Coaches selected one rider to be awarded a special prize as the rider who put in the most effort and got the best results during the day.  ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy rider Dean King was selected as the winner and will be given a VIP trip to the British Round of MotoGP as guest of the ACU.
