COLIN APPLEYARD BRITISH SOLO TRIALS CHAMPIONSHIP - ROUND 1

Monday April 16, 2007 at 12:00am

The reigning British trials champion Graham Jarvis predictably made the winning performance riding his MRS Sherco fourstroke machine. Almost three decades have elapsed since a non-two stroke engined machine has taken the top award. Charnock and Scarborough electricians Shaun Morris and Michael Brown joined Jarvis on the podium. For Brown it was a personal best result in the series. Kinlochleven joiner Gary MacDonald, returning from injury, rode his MRS Sherco to fifth place, scoring eleven championship points, while Manxman Steve Colley excelled in his trials return, after breaking both elbow joints, to take fourth place.

Devonian Joe Baker won the Expert category, riding a Birkett Scorpa, from Burnley's Mika Vesterinen and Sheffield graduate Dan Thorpe. Bewdley's Ross Danby took the 125cc class riding his JST Gas Gas.

European Youth Championship winner Jack Challoner dominated the Youth class on his Repsol Beta. In overall classification he was placed fifth. Skeeby's Jonathan Richardson and Adam Jones joined the Halifax rider on the podium.

The trials course remained dry but some sections were slippery as moisture rose to the surface. The forecasted rain held off until late afternoon after the trial ended.

Next round - Neath Motor Club, Aberdulais, April 29.
