An additional feature for this season is the introduction of a ‘Joker’ system in the Championship, in which riders can double any points scored when playing their ‘Joker’, but at only one round of the Championship.
The weekend provided a whole array of emotions for many riders, from the podium finisher, playing his ‘Joker’ for double points, being disqualified from his race result for using non ‘control’ tyres, to a novice rider not only collecting his first Express Insurance Top Gun Award for highest placed novice, but also finishing on the podium after falling in the previously red flagged edition of the race!
Saturday saw the 4 x 125 classes, GP Open, GP Academy, Sport Production 125 and Sport Production 80 plus the new ACU Suzuki GSX-R Trophy all taking to the track. Sunday saw the Formula 2 sidecars in action prior to lunch followed by the welcome return of the 250 British Championship afterwards.
