The reigning British Trials Champion, Graham Jarvis, starts as favourite after his opening round win at Kinlochleven two weeks ago. The Canterbury rider will compete on the M.R.S. Sherco 3.2 four-stroke machine in all Championship rounds, and the Scottish Six Days Trial, which starts next week at Fort William.
On current form Shaun Morris and Michael Brown are the riders likely to challenge Jarvis but Alexz Wigg and Sam Haslam could pose a major threat. Steve Colley is recovering from serious arm injuries after breaking both elbows in a freak bike display crash so the Isle of Man six-footer could be a major player on Sunday.
Devonian Joe Baker ran away with the Expert class at Kinlochleven and is set to win again at Llety Rafel Farm, riding his Birkett Scorpa but Neath’s Gary Jenkins and Bewdley teenager Ross Danby will certainly offer serious opposition. Dan Thorpe, Chris Pearson, Dan Farrer, Matthew Jones, James Fry, Darren Brice and Andrew Blackman will be the key players.
Jon Richardson and Ben Morphett head the Youth non-Championship class because first round winner Jack Challoner has opted to ride a Y.M.S.A. event in Derbyshire.
The Neath organisers have planned a three lap course of twelve observed sections. Riders must ride the first lap in two and half hours of the total time allowance of five and half hours.
Practice will be allowed on Saturday from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
Start time – Sunday 10.00 am.
