The new Championship is welcomed by Jim Parker, Chairman of the ACU Road Race, Drag & Sprint Committee, “One of the pivotal roles of the ACU as National Governing Body is to widen participation in motorcycle sport, these 80cc machines give young riders migrating from mini bikes the perfect introduction into racing on geared bikes. We believe that opening the door to MotoStar will accelerate their learning curve through access to major circuits and the chance to work with our Road Race Academy Coaches.”
The Sport Production 80 class is open to 69cc to 80cc machines manufactured by Metrakit, Jawa, Derbi and Conti using treaded tyres and 17-inch wheels. Riders must be aged 12 and over and hold an ACU Novice Road Race Licence.
