For James to be in with a chance of the British Championship at the final round shows the work put in by Nigel Bosworth and Shaun Brown, along with the input from Academy Sports Psychologist Ashley Scott has been worthwhile.”
A second rider in need of congratulation is 14 year old Bradley Smith, from Wheatley in Oxfordshire, who has raced in Spain on several occasions this year but, this weekend won his first Spanish Championship Round at Albecete, dominating the race after starting from the front row of the grid on his 125cc Honda.
Bradley will compete in the final two rounds of the Championship which is accepted as the most competitive national championship in the World for the smaller classes and which has already produced World Champions such as 125 and 250cc World Champion Dani Pedrosa.
Jim Parker said, “This year is the first year of the Academy Cup and the success the riders have had in the British Championship reinforces the ACU’s belief in that nurturing these young riders through what can be a very steep and expensive learning curve will provide the best chance of seeing a young rider progress through to the premier classes.
Congratulations must go to Bradley Smith, an ACU Academy Cup runner, who after working inside the Suzuki pit at the Donington Park Moto GP has already made his determination to succeed, known in the Moto GP Paddock.
Bradley has already won a British Championship Round in September at Oulton Park, a very closely fought race, to go across to Spain and dominate the race shows how strong are own British 125 GP Championship is.”
