Although the Start list has not yet been released, MXGB can confirm that an official entry has been received and accepted from Josh Coppins as a wildcard for the fourth round of the championship which will take place in two week’s time.
The ex GP front runner will take in the event on a visit to the UK and make no mistake the Kiwi is not coming just to make up the numbers! Coppins, always known for his work ethic, is sure to be at the sharp end of the racing and is likely to mix it with the front runners over the technical, hard pack circuit at Milton Park, near Northampton.
ACU Events Operations Manager, Stuart Drummond confirmed the entry, ' Yes Josh Coppins has been in contact and will be coming over for the event and obviously we were pleased to accommodate him. Josh always gives 100% and we are sure he is likely to be a podium contender.
Multi-Grand Prix winner, Josh Coppins will be making the long flight over from New Zealand during his current MX1 championship lead in less than 1 week to race the Maxxis British Championship at Milton Park, 27th May.
Josh Lands with not much time to spare, flying in on 23rd May, but with all things speeding ahead with the Fro Systems/IDS Yamaha team Josh will be all set to make his debut race on the privateer backed bike. Alongside Josh’s other main sponsors; Fox, Renthal, Rockstar Energy, Dunlop, Alpinestar and Scott goggles, tremendous backing has been given to Josh for his trip with backing also from Polisport plastics, Samco Sport, Pro Carbon and Evoke Concepts.
With the use of the Fro Systems motocross and supercross track on site during his stay, Josh is able to get pre-race training in and make any alterations to the bike set up. Suspension, pipes and add ons are currently being shipped over so that josh feels right at home on the Fro Systems/IDS Yamaha and is ready to make an exciting appearance at top level in the UK.
Team manager Mark McCann says ‘I am very excited about Josh coming back. We are good friends and I really miss him being at the gp's. It’s probably going to be my last time to see him race and luckily i will be even more involved than usual. Obviously having a very good chance of winning is going to make it even more special. We have put a lot of time and effort as a team, so we are giving it our best shot’.
