This weeks ‘What’s on Weekly’ features more events from around the country. Here is a selection of just a few events taking place.
Motocross
This Saturday (yes Saturday October 15th) the final round of the 2011 Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championship is to take place at Ladram Bay, Nr Otterton in Devon. Even though the MX1 Championship has already been won by John May there is still plenty of action to be seen as Luke Hill on the Maunders Racing Honda only has a slender 42 points advantage over Belgium rider Maarten Cremers on the Phoenix Tools CCM for runner up spot and also lining up will be the likes of Sam Chapman, Luke Blanchard, Ben Harmon, Kelvin Townsend, James Kensington, Ross Keyworth plus many others. In the St Blazey MX2 Championship things are still wide open at the top with Luke Mellows on the Meredith Suzuki leading the proceedings by a mere 16 points from Jamie Skuse who missed the last round through injury, but he will be back and will be looking to do well as will Wayne Shimell, Harry Snow, Josh Wyatt, Harry Sellwood plus wildcard Luke Hawkins plus many others. The Petersen Racing Junior Championship is set to go down to the last race as there is just 13 points separating the top two going in to the final round so there is everything to go for. Bill Farleigh has led the Championship most of the season, but has been up against it in the last couple of rounds and has had his lead cut quite considerably by Harvie Templeton-Banks who is on top form at the moment and Michael Rowe who lie second and third respectively and will be a threat as will many others including Jordan Owen, Anthony Milliar, Curtis Hunt to name a few.
In the M D Racing Over 35 Championship this also is far from over as Martyn Tucker knows, any mistakes or mechanical problem could well lose him the title as Tucker goes in to the final round leading Keith Hanson by just 32 points and with 90 points up for grabs anything could happen. Chris Brown who won the last round will be hoping to do the same to consolidate his third place in the Championship. Ladram Bay is an excellent viewing track and has easy parking and will be signposted off the A3052 Exeter to Sidmouth Road at Newton Poppleford with the first race at 10-30am. (There are still places available so give Mel a ring on 01626 365335)
Woodbridge and DMCC will be hosting the final round of the Eastern Centre Motocross Championship on Sunday 16th October at the sandy Blaxhall Circuit. Current Expert Championship leader Carl Nunn will be hoping to wrap the Championship early in the meeting as he currently holds a 65 point lead over Syd Bales. Added excitement for this meeting will be the entry of Local Club and GP rider Jake Nicholls before he moves to Belgium to focus on the 2012 Grand Prix season with his new team. The Junior Championship will also feature some close racing for second in the championship between Daniel Norman and William King. Current leader Mason Law has already sealed the title for 2011. Admission prices for the event are £8 for Adults, Unaccompanied Children and Senior Citizens £4, while Accompanied Children Under 14 are free. Practice starts at 9:30 and the first race at around 10:30.
This weekend the Kensworth Schoolboy Motocross Club will be hosting a practice and race meeting at Chippenham. The race meeting will form round 11 of the club championship. Saturday’s practice day is open to all riders during the day. With classes from Autos to Adults there is sure to be plenty of racing action all day on the Sunday.
