We this was the final showdown when the British Trials Championships were decided. After six months over eight rounds the ACU Events sponsored series drew to a fitting climax at the Red Rose Trail at Back Cowm Quarry just outside of Rochdale.
Beta’s James Dabill going for his third Championship crown in succession did not win the event. That distinction went to Michael Brown on the Gas Gas who won a tough battle by a single mark over the three laps. Dibs got the title but Brown can look forward to next season with relish. Jack Challoner came home third on the day but after a series of steady performances Sam Haslam’s fourth place gave him the last podium place for the overall championship.
Jack Spencer came out top of the Experts A group whist James Fry was second and Ricky Wiggins third. Wiggins riding towards the back of the field got the worst of the weather when the rockery went very slippery when the rains came down. Ricky did have the drive back home made all the sweeter though as the A class championship was won.
Guy Kendrew gave Ossa its first British Crown when he duly won his season long battle with Richard Timperley on the MRS Sherco to grab the well supported B Class title.
