With Evgeny Bobreshev (CAS Honda) and Zach Osborne (Bike It Cosworth Yamaha) now having established leads in the MX1 and MX2 classes, it is possible, although unlikely, that one or both of them could be crowned champion at Silverstone on Bank Holiday Sunday.
With the news filtering through that current MX1 leader Evgeny Bobreshev may be out for a few weeks with a punctured lung, Buildbase CCM rider Stephen Sword has a golden opportunity to close the gap - or even take the lead - at the next round of the chamionship, due to take place next Sunday (29th August) at the Silverstone Motocross circuit.
One thing for sure, the MXY2 (Youth) Champion will emerge, as the Silverstone event heralds the final round of four for our talented Youth riders and unless something dramatic happens (and it can), it should be the new LPE Kawasaki signing, Connor Walkley who stands on the top of the podium with a British Crown around his neck.
Sword goes into the event 37 points adrift, but with three motos, each holding 25 points for a win, the likeable Scots exile has a chance of snatching the red plate as series leader as the Russian CAS Honda rider may be forced to sit the event out. Other top names in the MX1 class will be current Champion, Brad Anderson, Gareth Swanepoel, Jason Dougan, Gordon Crockard, Tom Church, James Noble, Alex Snow, Carl Nunn, Nathan Parker and Gert Krestinov.
The Silverstone circuit is currently being prepared by the ACU Events team headed by Race Director, John Percival, who will supervise the re-shaping of all of the jumps and revamping the "Supercross" section of the track. Other improvements for this major event is the fact that race fans will be able to get close to the action, with the whole of the wooded side being opened up as well as an area in the centre.
The Silverstone circuit is easily reached from the A43 dual carriageway, which links with the M1 and M4 motorways.
Race Fans are reminded that there is no Camping allowed at the circuit itself, although there are several nearby campsites available.
