Maxxis British Motocross at Farleigh Including Round 1 of the Maxxis Vets

Round six of the ACU Maxxis British Motocross Championship, which will take place at the famous Farleigh Castle circuit next Sunday (15th August) has attracted all the top names in the Start List produced by ACU Events yesterday. In what may be his last event in the championship, Aprilia's Josh Coppins will be anxious to continue his recent run of good form on a circuit which will be new to him - as it will with many of the other top contenders.

The MX1 class favourite has to be the Russian missile, Evgeny Bobreshev, who has won nine of the fiftreen motos to date this year on his CAS Honda. However "Bobby" may not have it his own way as Stephen Sword (Buildbase CCM) is now fit and contesting the Czech GP this weekend, whilst for current champion, Brad Anderson (PAR Honda), it is virtually his last chance to rescue his crown as he is currently in third position - sixty points off the lead. Other top MX1 riders include, Gareth Swanepoel, Jason Dougan, Gordon Crockard, Tom Church, James Noble, Carl Nunn and Ben Lamay.

After his big crash at the previous round, Zach Osborne (Bike It Cosworth Yamaha) will be anxious to ensure he does not let his main rival, HM Plant Red Bull KTM's Jake Nicholls close the gap anymore which is now down to seven points. Martin Barr (PAR Honda) holds a comfortable third place in the series, whilst other top names will include, Elliot Banks_Browne, Mel Pocock, Kristian Whatley, Matiss Karro, Shane Careless, Neville Bradshaw and Bryan MacKenzie.

The event also includes the first round of the 2010 Veterans Championship, where current champion, Rob Herring will face old rivals which include Greg Hanson and Brian Wheeler.

The circuit will be very similar to the famous Farleigh Castle of the late eighties and it will be interesting to see how the current crop of top riders cope with a traditional circuit.

Directions to the track; From the North follow the M4 to Junction 18 and approach through Bath and the A36 and all other routes lead to the A36 where the course will be signposted from the junction with the A366. Start times - 9.15am first race 12.30pm.
