John Collins, Chairman of the Trials and Enduro Committee wishes to congratulate both the Men and Women’s British Trial Des Nations teams after their success in France this weekend.
The Men’s Team consisting of Dougie Lampkin, Graham Jarvis, Shaun Morris and James Dabill were locked in a very closely fought battle for the lead with the Spanish Team for much of the early stages, until some mistakes at the latter part of lap 1 saw the Spaniards take the lead. With conditions getting very tricky the Spaniards were able to maintain their advantage and forced ‘Team GB’ to repeat their second place from 2005.
However, in the Ladies competition Donna Fox, Maria Conway and Becky Cook turned the tables on their Spanish rivals reaching the top step of the Trial Des Nations podium for the very first time. In the closely fought competition ‘Team GB’ justified their ‘favourites’ tag winning the event, which saw the top 3 separated by a mere 8 points.
Team Manager John Collins said, “It was always going to be difficult to win the Men’s competition with so many of the top World riders in the Spanish team, but all the riders were a credit to the Team and justified their places in the squad.
The real success story was the fantastic performance of the British Women who in difficult conditions rode their hearts out to gain a well deserved victory.”
