This Sunday April 3rd the Phoenix Tools Premier
Motocross Championship kicks back into action at the ever popular Landrake Moto
Parc which will also host the opening round of the R C Motorhomes Open 2-stroke
Championship.
In the Gabriel Expert Open Championship there has been great
interest with many wildcard entries including a rider who is in top form at the
moment on the Buildbase Honda current leader of the MX Nationals and the
British Masters Graeme Irwin, Keiran Banks on the RSS / GP Graffix KTM, Todd
Kellett on the Crescent / S J Hodder KTM and Ty Kellett on the Apico / 98Vision
KTM and local Cornish kingpin Josh Gilbert on the St Blazey Mx Husqvarna with
many more expected who are out to get some track time before Rd 2 of the MX
Nationals the following weekend at the same venue.
Leading the Championship after the opening round is the Meredith
Mx Suzuki of Luke Dean who heads the standings by 7 points from the Tony
Maunders Racing Suzuki of Jamie Skuse with fellow Tony Maunders Racing Yamaha
of Kelvin Townsend just 5 points adrift of Skuse in 3
rd, but there
are many more riders entered including last years Junior Champion Jamie
Carpenter on the Phoenix Tools Honda, Billy King on the R J King KTM, Ben
Butler on the Tony Maunders Racing Kawasaki, the J T R Moto 33 Yamaha of Josh
Taylor, Sam Gabriel on the Gabriel Insulations Husqvarna and Luke Craig plus many
more.
In the M D Racing Over 35 class the battle will commence between
the Tyremarks Husqvarna of Wayne Shimell and the Cheddar Mx / M D Racing Honda
of Ben Harmon with Shimell with a 3 points advantage after the opening round,
where as in the Over 40’s Stuart Rawlings will be out to extend his 12 points
lead over the Gabriel Insulations Honda of Steve Elford, but there are plenty
of other riders hoping to do well including Richard Green, Martyn Tucker and
James Knatchbull to name a few. In the Over 50’s its David Ford on the Projuice
KTM who was top scorer at Rd 1 and will be looking to extend that advantage.
In the Tony Maunders Junior Championship the field is stacked with
talent including Harry Linton on the Bridgestone KTM who took the overall at
the opening round, but just 2 points adrift is the Oakleaf Building Honda of David
Anthony with Tyron Cleaver 3 points behind in 3
rd, but with every
rider having to qualify for the main Junior Championship race things are not
plain sailing.
Landrake will also host the opening round of what is new to the
series the R C Motorhomes Open 2-stroke Championship which will include many
riders from other classes like Jamie Skuse, James Kensington, Sam Gabriel,
Jordan Carter, Steve Elford, James Kensington and Luke Craig, but joining them
will be the likes of Leighton Holmes on the Moto 64 KTM, the R C Motorhomes /
Gibbs Performance / Armaid KTM of Will Worden, Ben Milward on the Inchains
Yamaha and Gareth Northam on the 24/7 Diamond Drilling & Sowing KTM to name
a few.
Landrake Moto Parc is an excellent viewing track with easy parking
