Closer ties could bring better support for Track Stars of the Future
New support for the next generation of top Track and Speedway motorcyclists could be on the way with the election of a new Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Auto Cycle Union Track Racing Committee.

Dickie Staff, who has been Vice Chairman in recent years, was elected to take over the leading position from Peter Gregory, who’s stepping down after seven successful years in the role.

Dickie, who is based in Andover, Hampshire, now takes over overall responsibility for Track Racing within the UK with former European Grass Track Champion Paul Hurry being the new Vice Chairman.

Dickie said: “Peter has been a great mentor and will certainly be a hard act to follow. All the Track Racing Committee members thank him for everything he has done, and we hope to further build on his achievements from now going forward.”

But he also signalled a slightly different direction for the ACU.

As the new Track Racing Chairman I would like to have closer ties with colleagues at the Speedway Control Bureau and the British Speedway Promoters Association”.

"I feel it is important that we all work together to further improve the knowledge and experience that can be gained by young British riders competing in both European and World Championship events abroad”.

“Tai Woffinden’s achievement in becoming double World Speedway Champion has been well documented, but the ACU, SCB and BSPA now need to focus on supporting and developing the next generation of ACU licence holders who aspire to become future European and World Champions”.

“If we work together we will do more for more people and be more successful,” said Dickie."
