Penultimate Round of the Darley Moor Championship takes place on Sunday 20th September
The penultimate round of the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Championship is set to be a bumper meeting this Sunday, 20th September 2015, with a much bigger entry list than over the previous couple of Rounds. With the large majority of classes still to be decided there is certain to be some excellent racing on the track, near Wyaston, Ashbourne, Derbyshire (DE6 2ET).

With 54 points still available before the season ends, 18 points are available at Round 7 and 36 points from the final Round, there are only two classes that have been decided already. Brian Prescott is the Classic 350 Champion and Jamie O’Brien the Classic 1000 Champion, whilst nine of the remaining classes are being headed by just four riders.

Brendan Brown is currently leading 3 classes, the Peak Cup and Open Solo class, ahead of Simon Bowyer by 11 points and 16 points respectively on his 1000cc machine. His 3rd Championship is the 125GP class which he leads by 13points from Derek Clarke.

Chris Moore is leading the Pre 98(Up to 500cc) by 21 points from O’Brien and the Lightweight class by 36 points from Darren Spruce.

Lloyd Shelley has a 17 point advantage over Jamie Medhurst in the Formula 600 class, but just a single point puts him above Gary Henriksen in Sound of Thunder class.

Brad Vicars heads the Formula Darley and Mini Sound of Thunder classes, both from David Carson, by 12 points and 5 points respectively.

James Hind could possibly be crowned Formula 125 Champion this weekend, currently enjoying a 49 point advantage over young George Pidcock, providing he can secure just 5 points this weekend the title will be out of the grasp of Pidcock, irrespective of his results.

There are also large point advantages in the Pre Injection 600, Classic 250 and Classic 500 classes; Stone’s Andy Lowe and Robert Wise are separated by 34 points in the Pre Injection class; Geoff Hadwin enjoys a 30 point lead over Andy Wilson, and Gordon Thorpe has a 34 point lead over Oliver Presswood in the Classic 500 table.

The remaining classes will definitely ensure that there will still be Championships to be decided at the final Round. Virgil Stevenson has a 15 point lead over Richard Stubbs in the Pre98’s (Up to 1300cc) class. Anthony Porter has just a 9 point advantage over Dean Ephgrave in the Steel Framed 600 class.

On three wheels, the pairing of Anthony Eades/Nick Roberts has a 13 point lead in the Open Sidecar class over Ray Thomas/Neil Aslaksen. The Formula 600 sidecar class has the narrowest margin at the top of the table; Howard Baker/Mike Killingsworth just 5 points above John Chandler/Karl Schofield.

In addition to these regular Darley Moor Championship classes this weekend will give spectators another opportunity to watch the national Classic 50 riders, when they were last at the circuit Samuel Grief secured two comfortable victories aboard his machine.
