PHOENIX TOOLS HITS CUSSES GORSE FOR ROUND 7
This Sunday August 30th the Phoenix Tools/Ifly Premier motocross Championship makes its way to the ever popular Cusses Gorse track in Wiltshire which will play host to round 7 in the series.

In the Phoenix Tools/Ifly Pro Expert class Championship leader Shane Carless on the Oakleaf Motorsport Honda had his lead cut at the last round and goes in to round 7 with just a 35 points advantage over Jamie Skuse on the Tony Maunders Racing Suzuki with the Phoenix Tools Ifly Husqvarna of Alfie Smith still there in 3rd, but knocking on his door is team mate Alex Snow who took the overall at the last round and will be looking for a repeat performance. Other riders lining up include the likes of Ross Keyworth on the Meredith Mx Suzuki, Tom Moore on the A D Homes / Wulfsport Suzuki, James Harrison another Phoenix Tools Ifly Husqvarna rider, Kelvin Townsend on the Tony Maunders Racing Yamaha, Ross Hill on the Gabriel Insulation Services Honda to name a few plus wildcards Josh Gilbert on the Route 77 MVRD Honda and the Crescent Racing KTM of Jake Shipton with many more wildcards expected prior to the event.

In the Tony Maunders Expert Championship it’s starting to get really tight at the top between the Phoenix Tools Ifly Husqvarna of Charlie Putnam who leads by just 13 points from the Danger UK Husqvarna of David Keet (Pictured No 555) who took his first overall in the Championship at the last round and is on top form at the moment and will be looking to cut that deficit even more at Cusses. Currently lying 3rd in the standings is the 2-stroke rider James Kensington, but closing in on him is the D S C Cornwall Kawasaki of Ben Butler who in tall is just 3 points ahead of team mate Jack Stevens who’s there in 5th, but there is plenty of other talent lining up like Jake Penny, Sam Gabriel, Luke Sturgeon and wildcard Lougas Maggio plus many more.

In the M D Racing over 35 Class it’s still Nick Life on the Gibbs Performance / St Blazey Yamaha who heads the Championship, but up in to 2nd is now the Gabriel Insulation Service’s Honda of Stephen Elford with the ReadyPower KTM of Rick Hanson back in 3rd after taking a nasty tumble at the last round and was forced to pull out for the rest of the day, but Hanson is only 3 points behind Elford and will be out to regain that 2nd spot for sure. In the Over 40’s class it’s Terry House on the Crescent / New Milton Tyres Suzuki who heads the Championship, but House won’t be in attendance as he is away on other commitments so the Cheddar Mx Store Honda of Chris Brown who’s there in 2nd will be looking to capitalise on this opportunity and take the lead. In the Over 50’s it’s been Graham Beale who has been winning races at the last couple of rounds and has gradually cut in to Championship leader Mark Gleadhills advantage and if all goes well for Beale he will be hoping to cut it even more.

In the Tyremarks Junior Championship class it has been all about one rider for most of the series and that rider is young Jamie Carpenter on the Phoenix Tools Ifly Husqvarna who has been in dominating form and he will be for sure the man to beat at Cusses. Currently in 2nd place in the standings is Billy King who has come on strong recently as has Jay Lewis on the Tony Maunders KTM who sits 3rd in the Championship and will both being looking to do well along with many others which will include many wildcards.

Cusses Gorse is a fast flowing track with easy parking and excellent viewing and will be signposted off the A338 (Sat Nav SP4 6JW) with the first race at 10-30am. (There are still a few spaces left in all classes, for more info ring Greta on 01884 840078)
