Eastern Centre Motocross Championship moves on to Lyng
This Sunday (30th August) the Norwich Viking MCC host the sixth round of the Eastern Centre Motocross Championship at their famous Cadders Hill, Lyng, Norfolk circuit. This will be the Championship’s second visit to the Norfolk circuit during 2015 but this time the short circuit will be used. There is sure to be plenty of action during the exciting 12 race programme.

Clerk of the Course, Andrew Hay, tells us that following one or two issues with the uphill section of Cadders Hill at the previous meeting, the step that had formed at the top of the hill has been removed to alleviate these problems prior to more extensive work during the close season. It is hoped that this will make the hill easier for the clubman riders.

The Expert line up consists of the best riders in the Eastern region including current Championship leader Luke Benstead who has a 106 point lead over second placed Brad Woodroffe who represents the host club. With only 34 points covering second to fifth place, it is a much closer contest for the final podium places, Brad Tomlin has a 21 point advantage over Shaun Southgate and Jason Morland who are tied on 214 points apiece. Local youngsters Declan Whittle and Luke Parker both supported by Danger UK, will be looking to close the gap on the top five and both have been in fine form recently. With such a strong line up the racing is sure to be really exciting over this physically demanding track.

In the Junior class the racing will be split into three groups with the fastest 40 competing in the Junior Championship. The Championship point’s leader is Andrew Stephenson who has a 26 point advantage over George Ellis with James Miles a further 10 points adrift in third. Connor Sutherland, Mark Hunt, Jordan Moxey, John Hinz and Jordan Cutting are not too far behind and will be looking to close the gap on the leading title contenders.

The action starts at 10:00am with practice / timed qualification followed by the first race at around 11:15am. Admission prices are £10 for Adults, Children under 15 are free, Concessions and Unaccompanied Children are £5. The admission charge includes one programme per car and a free gift valued at £5. Cadders Hill, Lyng can be located using the postcode NR9 5QZ.
