Summer Nationals on June 27-28th marks the halfway stage of the ACU Championships
Funnybike.

Dave Peters has made a superb start to the championships, winning both rounds of Funnybike.  Filippos Papafilippou will be trying to sort out his fuel set up after he lost in the final of the European FIM Championships here at Santa Pod.  He has run 6.54 at 206mph.  Bob Brooks will have a bigger fuel pump fitted for the event and will be hoping to run his first six-second pass, he was runner up to Peters here at Easter.  Second place Allan Davies will have his 1500cc motor back in the frame of the bike for this event.  Two other riders to look out for are Dave Buttery who has run 7.33 and Eric Richard from France who won last year at Shakespeare County and has run 7.38.  Team Warpspeed will be out with Stuart Crane and Dale Leeks.  Making a return to competition is Shaun Branch.

Comp Bike.

Springspeed Nationals winner Mick Winyard has a slim lead in the championship coming into the Summernationals ahead of Festival of Power winner Eddy Smiley.  Sean Mills runner up here at Easter and number one qualifier at Springspeed Nationals will be hoping to find the winner’s circle.  Paul Hambridge will be also looking to reach the final after a stage problem at Easter.  Kevin Osman will be hoping his top end speed will get him to the final.  There are three newcomers to the class that have entered.  They are Tanya Hardy, Mark Hope and Sam Sykes.

Super Street Bike.

Alex Hope has made a fantastic start in his first year as a Super Street Bike rider and leads the championship after his win of the Springspeed Nationals.  Raced in Tierp Sweden and ran a personal best of 7.394-197.14mph.   Reigning champion Steve Venables will be keen to get back to winning ways and not pull anymore red lights.  Chris Reed will be hoping for more performance at the event with Garry Bowe running back to back personal et’s at the Main Event and having won here at Easter we could see the et record being reset.  Richard Stubbins is another rider who could reset the record after winning the Main Event and running 7.113 at over 200mph.  Recently raced at Tierp in Sweden and was number one qualifier 7.167.  Shawn Buttigieg has run 7.10 and could shake things up in the championship.
