Jamie Coward Classic Master at Billown
Yorkshireman Jamie Coward was the most successful rider in the Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races at Billown in the Isle of Man, round six of the 2015 Duke Road Race Rankings

The 24-year-old builder from Hebden Bridge won the 500cc Senior race by 0.072s from Alan Oversby after a terrific scrap.

He’d already finished runner-up to Oversby in the 850cc race aboard the same Craven Manx Norton previously campaigned by the latter man, and also finished third in the 350cc Junior behind Mike Hose and Oversby in what was another close finish between the latter pair.

Coward rounded off an excellent day with a clear win over Mistral Kawasaki team-mate Steve Mercer in the Post Classic Superbike event, recording the first 100mph plus lap of the course on a classic machine in the process.

Mike Hose of Wallasey also recorded a double victory with success in the 350cc Junior on a Honda-twin and a runaway win in the 350cc Singles race on a two-stroke Bultaco.

The most astonishing result was 87-year-old Ted Fenwick’s victory in the 250cc Singles class on his faithful Ducati.

James Cowton repeated his 2014 success in the Junior Post-Classic event, while Scotsman Ewan Hamilton walked the 250cc race.

Paton mounted Mick Moreton won the solo support race on his 500cc BIC Paton by a narrow margin from Dave Cooper.

There are two new entries in the top twenty pf the Duke Rankings after the sixth round, the Blackford's Pre-TT Classic Road Races as double winner Mike Hose slots into 17th spot and Lancastrian Alan Oversby slides into 19th place.

Current champion, James Cowton rises four places into fourth, whilst fellow Yorkshireman Jamie Coward advances 29 rungs from 39th to 10th.

The racing action remains on the Isle of Man for the next two Duke Ranking Rounds, the TT Races and the Post TT Races. Full details of the Duke Road Race Rankings can be found on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DukeRoadRaceRankings.
