STARS EN ROUTE TO DARLEY
The Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club will be holding their traditional two day season finale on 11th - 12th October 2014, the Stars at Darley meeting.  As in previous years  a number of British and Irish stars will be mixing it with many of the regular Darley Moor competitors over the two 10 lap JBMI Group Ltd Stars at Darley races.  So far entries for the meeting have been received from John McGuinness and Jason O'Halloran, Honda Racing; Daley Mathison, Road Racing Ireland; Lee Johnston, East Coast Racing; Peter Hickman, Lee Jackson Senior & Junior, Buildbase BMW; Leon Jeacock and Mark Littler.

In addition to the JBMI Group Ltd Stars at Darley races there are still 13 Darley Moor Club Championships to be decided, but instead of the regular 6 and 8 lap races, each class will have just one 15 lap race, with 36 points at stake for the win!  So you can be sure there will be some exciting racing and the chance for some upsets in the championship positions. One of the biggest upsets could come in the Peak Cup class with Jamie Medhurst in 2nd place, just 10 points behind Tim Poole. In addition to Medhurst securing the Formula 600 Championship title at the last Round he secured a rare win for a 600cc machine in the Peak Cup class.  Could he also snatch the Peak Cup Championship from Poole, or will the Northwich rider secure both the Peak Cup and Open Solo Championships?

Jamie Pearson will be hoping to copy his brother Shane in lifting a title.  Shane successfully defended his Pre98 (Up To 1300cc) title this year and Jamie currently has a 33 point lead in the Pre Injection 600 Championship.

The Sound of Thunder and Pre98’s (Up To 500cc) championships are sure to keep the spectators entertained, both being very close at the head of the table, 1st and 2nd place  being separated by just 2 points! Steven Hill holding the advantage over Gary Henriksen in the Sound of Thunder series; whilst Alan Jones has the advantage over Andrew Clarke in the Pre98’s (Up to 500cc) class.

In the Classic classes Gordon Thorpe has a 15point advantage in the Classic 500 class and John Leese has a 14point cushion in the 350 Class. Whilst David Bradley has a 28 point deficit to overcome in the Classic 1000 championship and Dale Shaw has a 33 point deficit to overcome for the Classic 250 Championship

In the Sidecar Championships Tony Thompson/Jack Jones enjoy a 20 point advantage over Ray Thomas/ Neil Aslaksen in the Open Sidecar class.  In the Formula 600 Sidecars Roy Hanks/Julie Hanks-Elliott hold a commanding 31 point lead over Lee Crawford/Stuart Ramsey.

As usual there will also be a race for Karts with plenty of local interest on a variety of machines, 125cc and 250cc single machines, plus several 250cc twin cylinder machines.

Although the Saturday is a test day (10am – 5pm) for all competitors, if required, there is a session scheduled between 2.30-3.30pm just for those taking part in the JBMI Group Ltd Stars at Darley races.  On Sunday Practice will start at 10am, with the first race scheduled for 12 noon.  The cost of adult admission to Darley Moor on race day is £16.00, with children under 16 free, and Senior Citizens are £10.00. Parking and Paddock Transfer is free and a programme costs just £3.00.

Admission to the test day is £6.00 for adults, £4.00 for Senior Citizens plus, of course spaces are available for camping and caravanning at £5.00 per unit, from Friday lunchtime through to Monday morning.
