Final Showdown set for Foxhill
The final round of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship heads to Foxhill near Swindon on the 21st September. With all four classes competing there is sure to be plenty of action on track.

The final round marks a return to the former Grand Prix circuit of Foxhill after the unfortunate cancelation earlier in the season. The spectacular hard pack circuit features the famously steep hills and the jump filled valley which will create some great racing in all classes.

In the MX1 class it was Shaun Simpson who claimed the MX1 title on his Hitachi Construction Machinery KTM UK to go with his British MX2 Championship from 2008 at the previous round while last year’s Champion Kristian Whatley looks set to finish the season in a solid second spot.

The battle for third in the overall championship standings is sure to be the most exciting battle on track. Former double British Champion Brad Anderson on the Buildbase Honda currently sits in third place, just four points ahead of Heads and all Threads Suzuki’s Graeme Irwin in fourth and the Apico LPE Kawasaki of Gert Krestinov a further thirteen points back with Nathan Watson in sixth place on the Dantac Husqvarna another four points back.

Another rider to watch out for in the MX1 class is Frenchman Loic Rombaut who is making another guest appearance on the Apico LPE Kawasaki following his overall podium result at Whitby earlier in the season, while a number of other riders will be keen to impress possible future employers.

In the MX2 class the battle between Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s Matiss Karro and Hitachi Construction Machinery’s KTM UK’s Mel Pocock for the MX2 title is sure to produce some exciting racing. Karro currently holds a thirty nine point lead over Pocock and will be looking to claim the title after the second moto, although Pocock will know all too well that anything can happen after losing the title in 2012 in a last race decider.

The battle for third overall in the Championship will be between Adam Sterry on the second of the Wilvo Forkrent KTM’s, Neville Bradshaw on the Putoline Apico DB Honda and Bryan MacKenzie on the Pendrich Heights Services Kawasaki.

Other riders to look out for include Ben Watson on the second of the Hitachi Construction Machinery UK KTM’s and Steven Lenoir on the Dantac Husqvarna, who will be keen to secure his first ever British Championship overall victory.

Foxhill also marks the final round of the MXY2 championship which sees no less than seven riders mathematically capable of claiming the crown but realistically the battle will come down to just four people. Only four points separates series leader Josh Gilbert on the St Blazey MX Amped Honda and Oliver Osmaston on the MX World Honda in second place, with Liam Knight seven points back on the Dyer and Butler KTM and round one winner Jason Meara another seven points further back in fourth place.

The final class taking place this weekend is the Veterans Championship and reigning champion Phil Mercer will be looking to secure yet another Veterans Championship title, but Brian Wheeler will be keen to stop that from happening. The pair are separated by just one single point going into the final round. Other riders that might play their part in the final outcome include the likes of Rick Du-Feu, Terry House.

There is free public camping at the venue when the gates open at 8am on Saturday 20th so be sure not to miss this one. Foxhill is easily reached - just five minutes from the M4 motorway at junction 15 using postcode SN4 0DR

Admission prices are £20 for Adults £5 for Children under 15 and Children under 5 are Free, Family Tickets are available at £45.
