After a break of two months the Darley Moor Motorcycle Road Race Club Championship resumes with Round 5 taking place on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August 2014. With several regular competitors in the Isle of Man for the Classic TT there is sure to be plenty of opportunity for those present to either close the gap on their absent rivals, or take full advantage and extend any margin. With there being just three Rounds of the Championship remaining any advantage given could prove very rewarding.
One notable absentee will be Jim Hodson, who unfortunately suffered a crash at another meeting recently and broke his pelvis! Whilst this makes Tim Poole (Northwich) favourite for both the Peak Cup and Open Solo titles I am sure he would rather be battling it out on the track with Hodson for the honours.
One of the closest Championships is the Open Sidecar class, which sees four crews separated by just 9 points at the head of the table. Tony Thompson/Jack Jones holding a 6 point advantage over Anthony Eades/Iain Greensmith, with Ray Thomas/Neil Aslaksen a further 2 points behind and John Potts/Neil Dutton a single point behind them. The top three teams will definitely be in racing this weekend, be sure not to miss the action.
This forthcoming weekend is another in which former regulars at Darley Moor are remembered, with silverware bearing their names being presented to the ‘winners’;
The
Graham Bywater Trophy, in memory of a racer who competed in the Formula 600 and Newcomers’ races, will be presented to the highest placed Formula 600 rider in the Newcomers’ class.
The
Trevor Foxley Trophy remembers a Darley Moor scrutineer, from Stone, Staffs, who was killed in a road accident and will be presented to the highest placed Formula 125 rider under 21 years of age.
As always Practice starts at 10am, with the first race scheduled for 11.30am. The cost of adult admission to Darley Moor for all meetings, except the end of season Stars at Darley meeting, is £12.00 per day, children under 16 are free, and Senior Citizens are £8.00. Parking and Paddock Transfer is free and a programme costs just £3.00. Adult admission to the Test Days is £6.00.
For the Stars at Darley event on 12th October the adult admission price is £16.00 and Senior Citizens £12.00.
