Millard’s take Victory at Toddington for Round 5 of the Maxxis British Sidecarcross Championship
After an absence of sixteen years British championship sidecarcross returned to Old Park farm, Toddington hosted by the Luton and DMCC Ltd.

The top five teams had just returned from GPs in the Baltic States and the current British champions, Stuart Brown / Josh Chamberlain, were still suffering from an incident in Kegums a week ago. Josh decided to give this round a miss so his place was taken by Paul Horton.

In timed practice Daniel & Joe Millard were quickest with Jarvis / Humphrey less than a quarter of a second behind in second place and Jenkins / Chamberlain in third.

When the gate dropped for race one the charge up the hill was headed by Brown from Millard with Jarvis third. Jarvis only held third for one lap before he was overtaken by Wilkinson / Kirwin. After three laps Jarvis went missing and dropped right back to seventeenth place thus lifting Etheridge / Grahame to fourth. As the race progressed Brown kept a safe distance between himself and Millard and it wasn’t until the last couple of laps that Daniel & Joe closed the gap but were unable to seriously challenge for the lead. Brown went on to take the win from Millard with Wilkinson third.

Race two once again saw Brown take the holeshot from Millard and Wilkinson. Brown held the lead for two laps but Millard then started to push hard and got past on lap three. On the next lap Wilkinson also got past to take second place. At the beginning of the day Brown had said that he would be happy with top ten finishes as he wasn’t 100% himself and he had never ridden with Horton before so damage limitation seemed to be the best policy from now on.  Brown dropped down to sixth place midway through the race but was elevated to fifth two laps from the end when Etheridge crashed off the track. Millard took the win from Wilkinson with Jenkins third.

In the final race of the day the Millard brothers took the lead from Wilkinson with Jenkins third and Bradford / Peters fourth. Before the end of lap two Millard stalled his motor and Wilkinson was able to take the lead. The front four then held these positions to the flag. Behind them there was a race long scrap between Pelling / Cuff and the Breachers. Pelling led the battle until lap eight when Breacher got past and went on to finish fifth. Brown came home in tenth place.

Brown still leads the championship by fifty nine points from Millard with Jenkins just one point behind in third.

The next round is at Little Loveney Hall, Wakes Colne on 7th September.
