Jersey Adult Riders dominated the Camerons Ltd Moto-x Inter Insular
The 2014running of the Inter Insular Motocross Event took place at Sorel Point, St John, Jersey. The event was first run in 1986 and Jersey has now won it 21 times compared to Guernsey six and it was not awarded twice.

In the Open Class there were 4 local riders against their sister Isle and whilst Guernsey rider Brett Pearce, hole shot the race, he fell at the Sorel Bend and this allowed Sam Allix, Lee Le Viellez and Matthew Rayson through.  Allix lead for half the event and then Le Viellez took over and these three opened up a large gap and the three riders gathered on the last lap to cross the line together.  Pearce managed 4th
place whilst Jersey’s other rider Declan Hussey cleaned up 5th place.

In the B Class and Veterans who rode together, Bruce Dingle was in a class of his own as he lapped the other veteran to take an easy victory.  Meanwhile with 6 riders from the B class competing, Jersey took the first five places led home by Ben Hague and followed by Laurie Wheatley, Thomas Mollet, Jack Clayden and Michael Frazier.  Conor Carre could not get his bike started prior to the race and borrowed another bike which he came off a few times, however he still finished in 9th place to gain those valuable points.

In the junior category, there were only two riders from each Island.  Adam Godwin in the Small Wheel 85cc class was outstanding as he lead with confidence from start to finish to take maximum points, however it was an unlucky start for Greg Hawley in the Big Wheel 85cc class as he stalled at the end of the start straight and the gap that opened up was too great for him to close during the 15 minute plus one lap race.  So with one win a piece it was a draw for the youngsters.

Lee Le Viellez on behalf of Camerons Ltd presented the junior trophies, whilst two members of the original 1986 adult team, Martin Le Viellez and Colin Luce presented the adult trophies.

Next year the event will be taking place in Guernsey.
