ACU 250cc Championship heads to Anglesey for rounds 10 and 11

Chris Martin (Dave Dean Honda) leads his closest rival, Ant Hodson (FCL Yamaha), by 33 points going into rounds 10 and 11 of the ACU 250 Championship at Anglesey on August 16 and 17.

Martin, the reigning ACU 250 title holder, came under pressure from both Hodson and Phil Atkinson (Declan’s Racing Yamaha) in the last round at Donington Park, but won both races to stretch his run of unbeaten successes to seven.

Atkinson is third in the points’ table, 55 points behind Martin, despite having suffered cruel luck in three of the nine races so far.

Dave Hampton (J&RB Racing Yamaha) is fourth in the standings, 14 points behind Atkinson.

Darrell Higgins (Dennis Trollope Racing Yamaha), at 56 the oldest man in the competition, is fifth in the championship heading for Wales.

Paul Metcalfe (Honda) took maximum points in the NG Cup at Donington and has cut Simon Hunt’s lead to 40.

With arch rival, Andrew Sawford absent from the last round after being injured in training, Rich Grinling (RG Carpentry and Joinery Yamaha) had the chance to close the 59-point gap in the Pre 92 class.

He won race won one, but the exhaust pipe split in the second, leaving him now third in the points, 34 behind Sawford, with Ste Howard (Howard Racing Yamaha) up to second 16 down on the leader.

Adult admission is £12 on each day. Children, under 16, are free. Practice starts at 9.0am on both days. Racing begins at 10/45am on the Saturday and at 10.0am on the Sunday.
