PHIL HAY - RIP

It is with sadness that we have to report the recent death of Phil Hay. Known in the motorcycle circles as the father of Enduro Rider Richard Hay. Many in Enduro circles shall remember Phil and his wife Mary in the 90s and noughties who tirelessly supported Richard at Scottish, British and latterly World Championships as he pursued his motorcycling ambitions.

Phil an accomplished trials rider in his youth, retired from competing whilst his family was growing up, returned once again in the late 80s as his son Richard started competing. In a case of if you can’t beat them join them, Phil re-entered the world of Enduro and over the years couldn’t resist the temptation of occasional forays in local Scottish Events. Phil outrode for Richard in a number of ISDE events.

In the 90’s Phil become a stalwart of the Melville Club and along with the rest of the family assisted in the running of Scottish, British and the infamous Scottish World Championship Round in 98. Retiring from active competition in the early noughties after the untimely death of his long term business partner. Phil was forced to concentrate on establishing an Architecture business which he continued to run until his retirement. After which he then set about designing and building his dream house which was finally completed days before his death.

The funeral shall take place in Carrbridge on Monday 7h July @ 12:00. All friends and family are welcome. The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers that any donations are made to the Highland Hospice.
