Fifth round of British Quad Championship Rescheduled

The organiser of the Cromwell Trucks British Quad Championship has moved quickly to reschedule the fifth round of the series after the original meeting due to host the round on August 3 was cancelled at short notice.

The meeting organised and promoted by DKS Sports at Mildenhall was axed without the quad promoters, NORA MX even being consulted!

Now NORA will run the fifth round in conjunction with its own championship meeting at Culham in Oxfordshire on September 7.

Speaking yesterday, series promoter Chris Murphy said: “To say we are disappointed with DKS pulling the meeting at such short notice would be an understatement.”

“However, with this year’s championship being so exciting and tight, there is no way we can even consider not running a fifth round, therefore we have taken the decision to incorporate the round with our own NORA MX meeting at Culham on September 7.”

“We have looked at other dates, but at such short notice, it as difficult to find a date that did not already clash with an existing quad event such as NETT, QRS, the Great 8 or Pont de Vaux. Therefore we think this is the best solution, especially as Culham is an excellent championship level track.”

“We would also like to apologise to any riders who had already made travel arrangements for August 3, but as I hope they can see, this matter was out of our hands.”

There is still all to fight for in this year’s championship after four different riders won the four opening rounds. Paul Winrow – who has yet to win a round overall, is the championship leader, 35 points ahead of Carl Bunce. Mathematically ten different riders could still win the title!

The final round will still be held at Canada Heights in Kent alongside the Maxxis British Sidecar Championship on October 5.
