WET WET WET AT WESTWOOD

Over a dozen young OSET riders braved monsoon conditions at Westwood this weekend for the second round of the OSET Cup Northern Series.  Aimed at the youngest riders in the UK, the OSET Cup is designed to give those new to trials a taste of what it’s all about.  There are also hard and elite routes for the more experienced kids.

With torrential rain during set out, it was touch and go whether or not to cancel the event, but the small weather window meant it was given the go ahead before the heavens opened for the second half of the trial.

With reduced numbers it meant the trial ran two conducted groups – novice/intermediate and the hard route/elite together.

Undaunted, all the riders gave everything a go, with many of them having made rapid improvements in their riding ability since the first round.

Chris Pearson, from SplatShop, who supported the event, said; “The ability of these youngsters is remarkable.  Despite the weather, the kids had a great day, all encouraging each other in what were very slippery conditions.”

Rider of the day went to Finlay Potter on the intermediate route.  The 8 year old enjoyed a great ride at his first event on his new OSET 20.0 Lite.

The third round will take place on Saturday 17th August at 11am – venue TBC, check OSET Facebook and website for details.
