The National Mintex Youth Time Trial heads to Hurst on June 22

Want to ride the Scott Trial course, and sections, or at least about 20% of the legendary trial route?

For Youth class riders the golden opportunity is June 22nd and the venue will be Hurst. The famed Washfold section is right alongside the road leading to the start area. This unique event replicates the Scott Trial in every way. Two laps of twenty miles on the moors above Reeth taking in Sleigill, Roan Hush, Whisky Gill and Moss Gill. The Reeth Three Day Trial plays a part as well with sections at Jim Fards. As in the Scott Trial the fastest rider makes standard time as well the thirty sections.

Forty miles of moorland sounds quite a distance but the moors are littered with tracks and sheep paths. The latter are usually user friendly as sheep do have quite a brain when it comes to avoiding deep holes and deep water.

Up to Friday the entry stands at thirty seven Class A and B contenders. Some big guns are listed. Toby Martyn travels from Cornwall but Alexander Lennox does one better. Try Northern Ireland !!  The Tartan Army converge on Hurst. Tyler Murphy, from Kinlochleven. Duncan McColl, Joe Dawson, Harry Sherriffs, Stuart Mack, he was involved last year while his father Sandy acted as mechanic to all and sundry. Lewis Byron travels from Glasgow. All in all enough to make up a pipe band, Toby Martyn, Will Minta, Sam Johnson will pose a major threat. Only one girl has entered Colne's Megan Holdsworth.

The Mintex Trophy is up from grabs. Barry Robinson sponsors Class B and Trials Magazine will conjure up a brace of Michelins as they have done for the last few years.  The start time will be 10.00 am with a start interval of thirty seconds. There is time to grab an entry for this one and only timed Youth national trial. Remember that it is the one and only opportunity to ride the Scott Trial course – legally.
