Racing heads to Tonfanau for the Crewe and South Cheshire Club Championship

Lap records could fall in round two of the Crewe and South Cheshire club’s championships at Tonfanau on May 25 after a 150 yard section of the Welsh circuit has been re-laid.

The meeting, second in a series of four, caters for all the usual solo and sidecar classes, includes a round of Kelvin Beckett Memorial Trophy.

Veteran Martin Powell tops the 451-1300cc Open class despite not winning any of the opening three races. Powell, the policeman from Telford is also second in the Forgotten Era Over 500cc class, trailing Steve Birtles by just three points.

Matthew Rees (Steel Frame), Chris Ganderton (Minitwins), Kimberley Rose (125), Mike Carter (Forgotten Era 251-500), Simon Harris (250), David Edwards (Classic Up to 250) and the Cunliffes (Sidecar) will be all out to maintain their 100per cent record.

Practice at the picturesque Welsh coastal circuit starts at 9am with racing underway at noon
