Masters of Midshires Grasstrack - 11th May

Midshires Grasstrack Club (MGTC) hosts their Master of Midshires event at Victory Field, Ashorne on Sunday 11th May. This event has been growing in stature over the years & is now recognised as one of the top meetings in the country with riders & spectators traveling from all across the UK to attend.

This year’s event includes Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth the current 1000cc sidecar British Master Champions however such is the strength of the entry they will be hard pressed to repeat their success at last year’s MGTC meeting. Challengers include Rob Wilson, Paul Whitelam, Gaz Winterburn, Myles Simmons , Gouge Bros plus many more so the action will be fast & hectic with riders trying to amass points through the heats to reach the finals. For those who have not witnessed these awesome machines with rider & passenger in full action it is an ideal opportunity to sample at the MGTC meeting, you will not be disappointed!

There are many other classes of bikes racing on the day; solo machines include the 250cc/350cc/500cc & Upright specification plus the older section of the Youth. Riders include last year’s 500cc solo winner Mark Baseby along with Tim Nobes, Mitch Godden, Tony Atkin, Harland Cook, Paul Cooper who all are more than capable of winning plus others in that field. All of the solo classes are fully subscribed so the thrills will come thick & fast.

The 500cc sidecar class also contains some of the top names including Shaun Harvey, Josh Goodwin, Barry Bennett etc. so there really is plenty of variety to suit your preference.

Also as part of this year’s Master of Midshires event there will be a sidecar challenge in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance. Hannah Palmer, whose father Calvin was seriously injured whilst riding at a grasstrack event last year, has challenged herself to raise thousands of pounds towards this very worthy cause. This exceptional service provided by the Air Ambulance was instrumental in giving Calvin the expert treatment he required at that very important time. Hannah will test herself as passenger on the back of Mark Cossar’s 1000cc outfit at race speed during the interval; this will no doubt be an ultimate challenge for her & will surely raise plenty of funds.

The venue is situated off the Banbury Road nr Ashorne, Warks CV33 9QL – practice will start at 11am & the full race programme commences at 1pm – Adults £12 / Concessions £10 / children under the age of 16 free if accompanied by an adult – Sunday May 11th is the date to put in your diary!
