Luscombe Mitsubishi Leeds British Class C and D Youth Trials Championship, May 31/June 1 2014

Moretonhampstead & District Motor Club / West of England Motor Club Ltd ACU host the Luscombe Mitsubishi Leeds British Class C and D Youth Trials Championship on May 31 and June 1

The fine county of Devon hosts the Youth British Championship trials series on Saturday and Sunday at Bovey Tracey and Lustleigh. On Saturday the Moretonhampstead D.M.C. stage round two of the seven event championship at Bullaton Farm near Bovey Tracey. Thirty eight contenders in four classes will be aiming for championship points.

No doubt about who will be on track for this vital weekend. Newton Abbott College twelve year old Billy Green. His form right through the classes has been formidable. His constant and most threatening rival is Daniel Slack from Whitwick in Leicestershire. Daniel is one who rides even well when it is raining. These boys head Derby’s Mitchell Brightmore in Class C standard wheels. Edward Earle and Charlie Mosley are two youngsters to be considered in the class. Reece Gazzard and his parents are on the long haul, from Northern Ireland while Ross Galloway and Ben Dignan travel from Fife and Lochaber.

In the Class C Medium wheels category Horsham’s Jack Dance won the opening event at Scarborough in April from Huddersfield’s Harvey Mosley and Scarborough club member Elliott Woodhall. Expect Dance to do just that, from the opposition.

Jamie Galloway took the top points in Class D medium wheels from a learning Class D champion Henry Stephenson who jumped from top Oset campaigner to Beta. That transition has not really got into gear yet for Master Stephenson, but it will. Galloway is not travelling from Fife to admire Devon; He will be seeking another twenty points. No better pedigree than Harry Hemingway in the entry list. The son of Dan Hemingway and nephew of a guy named Dougie Lampkin and another called John who imports Beta machines. What more? However Buxton’s Harry Turner could upset the Hemingway plans as could Oset mounted Dominic Horne. Also consider the local boys.

Newton Abbott threat Oliver Smith, Mortenhampstead’s Kirsten Clark, Liverton’s Luke Manuell and Josh Gill who scored well at Scarborough. No home town advantages but all the boys know the terrain.

On Sunday the entourage heads for Kelly Farm at Lustleigh and the third round in the championship where the West of England Motor Club stages their Devon contribution. Nick Hunt has laid out a testing course for all four classes. Start time on both days is 10.30 am.

Kelly Farm is a well known trials venue and usually provides spectacular action.
