MX Nationals: Round Two Preview

FatCat Moto-Parc, in Doncaster, will host round two of the 2014 MX Nationals this weekend. The notoriously sandy track will be a great test for the riders; the strongest will undoubtedly prevail.

Nathan Watson has a ten-point cushion over Elliott-Banks Browne in the MX1 class, after the first round (Culham). Nathan is considered a sand specialist by most - he will undoubtedly be looking to further extend his points lead in the three motos this weekend. Banks-Browne has the momentum from his win in race three at Culham behind him, so he is going to be right in the thick of the battle for the lead, again. Kristian Whatley will be trying to rebound from the DNF that he had at the opening round, as he has to dig himself out of a large points hole, but the popular MBO Sport Yamaha rider will surely be one of the main protagonists at FatCat.

Gert Krestinov loves the rough FatCat circuit, also. If he can get out of the gate, he should be in the mix at the front. Brad Anderson will want to rebound from a turbulent time at Culham – he has a lot of ground to make up in the coming weeks. But, do not be surprised if he lands on the podium this weekend!

In MX2, Neville Bradshaw currently leads the title fight. The Putoline Apico Honda rider has a comfortable gap, as Adam Sterry (who sits second in the standings) won’t be racing at FatCat this weekend. Lewis Trickett is the next guy behind Sterry, and he could be a surprise; he has had a run of good form recently! Bryan Mackenzie will be hoping to inch closer to Bradshaw, as well. The MX2 series standings could get shaken up in a big way, at each round, as they’re on-track with the MX1 riders, which makes for some entertaining, unique battles.

Again, there will be a whole host of guys that will be looking to break into the ‘Fastest 40’ for the first time. A lot of riders gained some vital experience at Culham, so they will be trying to put that to good use in the deep sand this weekend.

Of course, there will be a lot of other classes taking to the track at round two. The Under 15, Clubman, MXY2 and 2-stroke class will all be stacked with talent, yet again, which is going to undoubtedly make for some great racing. It costs just £5 to get in all weekend, with children under ten getting in for free!
