Tuck and Sparkes claim victory on the opening weekend
ACU Luscombe SAAB Leeds British Sidecar Trials Championship

West of England M.C / Camborne & Redruth M.C.

Bovey Tracy (Saturday) and Trethurgy (Sunday).

The opening trials in the ACU Luscombe SAAB Leeds British Sidecar Trials Championship took place at Bovey Tracy on Saturday and St Austell on Sunday.

Twenty two crews contested the opening two events in the ten round series. Bristol  former champion Jon Tuck and Matt Sparkes won the championship class on both days but came under pressure from Manchester’s Kieran Hankin and Andy Cripps on Sunday when the winning margin was a mere two marks. Rochester son and father Rupert and Chris Kimber put the pressure on the Bristol crew until Rupert sustained injury to his left arm in the seventh section on Saturday.

Robert Head and Nick Harding won the Inter class by a margin of four penalties from David Tuck and Steven Chandler.

Veteran Phil Sparkes and Kevin Parnell came out of retirement to challenge Simon Evans and Nick Harding for the Clubman category. The class leaders were under pressure from Paul Fishlock and Debbie Merrill.  Rupert Kimber rode on Sunday but was suffering from his arm injury and was only able to manage fourth place behind a fired up Hankin/Cripps duo and Reading’s Daryl Dale and girlfriend Hannah Etherington.
