Scottish Motocross talent support the British Youth Nationals
Scotland’s finest youth motocross talent are all set to compete in the 2014 British Youth Nationals which starts on April 12th at Fat Cat Moto Parc. With the return of Leuchars to the championship calendar on August 30/31st the series has the potential to be the strongest and most competitive youth championship anywhere in Europe

Scotland have produced not only British champions like Billy McKenzie, Stephen Sword and Shaun Simpson but also an AMA Supercross champion in Dean Wilson. The talent pool for such a small country is outstanding and with the continued development of the current crop of youth racers, Scotland will certainly produce champions for years to come.

  Scottish talent on show

Oliver Barr is 9 years old, he will compete in the Junior 65 class and is sponsored by 3B Construction and lives in Newton Stewart, South West Scotland

Oliver races in the Cumbria Championship (Brampton, Great Salkeld, Haverigg and Dean Moor) and in the BYN

“ I took part in the BYN last year to gain experience riding with the fastest guys in the country and to be on full start gates, I’m looking forward to riding again this year in the Junior 65 as riding with the quickest kids in Britain will bring me on as a rider and hopefully this year I will be in the top 10”

Jay Clark rides for Dumferline Motorcycles

“I won two Scottish titles in 2012 with my auto and moved to the 65’s in 2013. I had a couple of injuries last year, I broke my collarbone twice but the races I did make I had great fun. I enjoyed racing Brampton and the Cumbria clubs last year, I’m definitely going to race more in 2014, I want to thank Dumferline Motorcycles and Bill Brown at Wulfsport for helping with my kit and ramzans . . . Roll on round 1”

Troy Anderson will compete in the BW 85 class “This will be my third year racing with the BYN. I really enjoyed racing this series even when it sometimes means a twelve hundred mile round trip, due to living in the very far north of Scotland. The BYN series is well run and encouraging with some excellent racing. I finished 3rd in 2012 in the 65 class and 7th in the SW85 class last year and I’m hoping to show my finesse this year in the big wheel class.”

Look out for number 82 Sam Donnan SW85 class in 2014 “ Last year I rode SW85 class in Cumbria, I also competed in the BYN series and really enjoyed it. My highlight of the year was finishing 2nd in the Cumbria Motocross Championship at Haverigg. This year I am riding in Cumbria and the BYN. I am going to ride the best I can to get some good results. We chose the BYN this year as I will ne competing against Britain’s fastest racers. There is also a round in Scotland this year which makes it more of a ‘British’ Championship.”

Gareth Hockey of RHL Activities the championship promoter says: “It is great to see an increased amount of Scottish riders within our championship, we have honoured the Scottish support this year by taking the championship to Scotland for the last round at Leuchars at the end of August”
