Otter Vale Motor Cycle Club ACU Luscombe Mitsubishi Leeds British Class A and B Youth Trials Championship. Wolversleigh Farm, Sidbury, Sunday.
The Otter Vale Motor Cycle Club staged the first event in the Youth A and B National Motor Cycle Trials Championship at Wolversleigh Farm, Sidbury on Sunday March 23. The Rod Broom designed course tested thirty five contestants. Class A was won by Kirkbymoorside farmer’s son Dan Peace but the six foot blonde haired JST Gas Gas teamster was challenged by 2013 Class B champion Tom Hooper.
The Porlock youngster rode his MRS Sherco Team machine to second place against fancied Telford competitor Tom Minta. Ten riders contested the class. While the oldest age group class was a runaway victory for Dan Peace his younger brother Jack provided Class B winner Toby Martyn with a strong challenge. The Truro rider competitor has excelled in all age group classes and his abilities have improved the harder the event.
On Sunday after thirty nine sections just a single penalty separated the two riders. Clerk of Course Rod Broom enlisted Class C national champion Billy Green to ride the full course as an official backmarker. His score was logged. If he had ridden as a competitor he would have finished in seventh place and scored nine championship points!
The Newton Abbott boy is extremely talented. Bristol’s Victoria Payne competed in Class B mainly for trials practice and won the female class. She was not eligible to score championship points.
The South Shropshire Motor Cycle Club will stage the second round of the Youth Class A and B Championship trial and the second round of the Ladies and Girls Championship at Gaerstone Farm, Hope Bowdler, Church Stretton, SY6 7ES.
