The Otter Vale Motor Cycle Club stages the first event in the Youth A and B National Motor Cycle Trials Championship at Wolversleigh Farm, Sidbury on Sunday March 23.

The teenage entry list contains some of the best known names in youth trialling in the British Isles. Some have travelled short distances, others have not, and Stuart Mack travels from Perth along Class B conteder Joe Dawson.

The Class A entry is down on numbers this season as age governs eligibility. Kirkbymooride farmer’s son Dan Peace missed the Class A title by a single point in favour of Jack Price. Three names leap from the Class A entry list, Dan Peace, Shropshire’s Thomas Minta and local ace and Class B champion Tom Hooper who lives at Porlock. The form book suggests Peace for the class but Hooper showed remarkable maturity last season riding his MRS Sherco. Make no mistake Hooper is really the wild card in this pack. It really is a hot dozen.

Class B is a different story. With twenty two entries the choice for a rostrum result widens. Jcak Peace, younger brother of Dan, is sharp at present as is Yorkshire results testify. Port Talbot’s Ben Heycock was consistent last year as was Sam Yeomans and George Marshman. The fancied runners on recent results are Ripon,s spectacular Sam Johnson and Truro’s consistent Toby Martyn on his RCM Beta.

The series runs through six event this season so every trial is vital when it comes down to scoring championship points.

The format for Sunday is three laps of thirteen sections which has to be completed in five and half hours. The Class A boys, and girl, Bristol’s Victoria Payne, will start at Section 8 while the Class B contestants start at Section 1.
