2014 sees the OSET Cup North go bigger and bolder than ever before! This year, the five round series will take place across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.
The
championship kicks off on 10
th May in Harden, Bradford. This will be followed by Westwood in Sheffield on 07 June, Brough up in North Yorkshire by the A66 on 17 August, Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire on 14 September and the final round in Leeds the next weekend 20 September. All events are due to start at 11am.
Riders can drop one round, ensuring their best four rides go towards the final results. The OSET Cup North will run four routes. A white beginners route will be aimed at absolute novice beginners and will be ideal for those who want to come and give trials a go and have a bit of fun on their OSET. Riders’ parents will be given a score card to mark themselves (think crazy-golf). Whether you’re four or fourteen, the white route will teach the basics of what’s involved in trials riding, and get children used to taking part in events but with no pressure!
Stepping up a level to the yellow route will provide more confident and experienced riders an opportunity to compete against each other. The ‘inter’ route is designed for children who can ride with their feet on the pegs and are ready for a bit of a challenge as their skill set begins to develop.
The hard red route will be aimed at experienced riders. It will include challenging obstacles, big rocks, drop ins and steep hill climbs, where riders will need to have the confidence and knowledge to be able to position themselves effectively on the bike to get over, round and through various challenges.
The final route will be a blue route aimed at elite British Championship riders. These children will have been riding for a number of years and be looking to challenge each other and themselves on a course that is designed to help test and develop their abilities.
Each round has attracted the support of its local OSET dealer, including
Colin Appleyard,
Splatshop,
MHB Motorcycles,
Richtoy and
Trials UK, who will be on hand at their events to provide technical knowledge and ongoing support to OSET customers.
Simon Armstrong, from OSET Bikes, said: “We are delighted to have been given access to some great venues across the region. We’re looking forward to running a fun championship designed to get young trials riders together.
“The four routes, easy, intermediate, hard and elite will cater for all levels of rider even if it’s your first ever trial.
“We hope to welcome lots of new riders to come and join in the fun and have a go. If it is your first time riding come along with boots, long sleeves and a helmet and we’ll get you started.”
