February 16th saw the 2014 all electric snowman winter trophee trial hosted by Llangollen and District Motorcycle Club. Fortunately for us we saw no snow but blue skies, dry weather and 24 smiling families.
The venue for the event was Fron wood near Llangollen and given the recent weather the sections were perfect.
It was great to see so many new and regular members to the club, travelling from Flintshire, Lancashire and the West Midlands.
5 sections awaited the white beginner route, with technical flowing woodland sections. 1
st place on 5 points was new comer Freddie Ward, 2
nd on 17 also another new comer Jeremy Titley and 3
rd was the ever improving Jak Hollingsworth on 19, who also picked up the LL&DMC rider of the day.
The yellow intermediate riders were faced by 4 challenging sections which tested them to the max. 1
st on 3 marks and having an outstanding ride was Jenson Jones. Jenson also picked up the In Front Motorcycles rider of the day he is certainly one to watch this year. 2
nd on 26 was Arron Chadwick on his first competitive outing on his 20 inch Oset Racing, 3
rd on 33 was Osian Jones.
The red hard route was the toughest to date for the club but only 2 brave souls rode this route. After a few mistakes early on the British Mini Moto Champion Dan Jones finished the trial very strong ending up on 29 marks and 2
nd place. 1
st on 11 marks was Chirk lad Lewis Hurdsman who kept a cool head and the mistakes to a minimum.
Thanks to all that came and supported the event. It was a great first event to kick off 2014 and get the children ready for the club championship.
Thanks to event sponsors, AN Richards, Infront Motorcycles and Oset Bikes.
