Honda 150 European Championship announces expanded 2014 calendar
After a successful inaugural year, the Honda 150 European Championship features an expanded calendar for the 2014 season and the same prize for the winner of a ride in the European EMX250 Championship on a Honda CRF250R.

  The revised calendar will support the FIM Motocross World Championship at the following European rounds this season:

  May 04 – Valkenswaard, The Netherlands

May 25 – Matterley Basin, England

June 22 – Teutschenthal, Germany

July 06 – Uddevalla, Sweden *

July 27 – Loket, Czech Republic

  * Subject to Youthstream confirmation

  As the first rung on the ladder of Honda’s extensive participation throughout the categories of Motocross Grand Prix, the Honda 150 European Championship is aimed at nurturing and encouraging emerging young racing talent. It provides the opportunity for 11 to 14 year olds to showcase and hone their skills on the European Motocross Grand Prix stage alongside the MX1 series, and crucially develop from an early age the 4-stroke riding skills essential for a career in modern motocross.

  The championship winner will be promoted within the Honda Racing family and rewarded with a ride in the European EMX250 Championship aboard a Honda CRF250R, following in the steps of Italian Filippo Grigoletto who became the first Honda 150 European Champion last year.

  “The Honda 150 European Championship is entering a very exciting second year, with growing grids, a growing calendar and more interest in the 4-stroke Honda CRF150R”, said Robert Watherston, Manager, Motorcycle Sport for Honda Europe. “It’s a great opportunity for aspiring riders to learn 4-stroke machines from a young age and on the Grand Prix stage, and as Filippo demonstrates the series offers the first step towards a career in motocross.”

  “We’re delighted that Honda are stepping the Honda 150 European Championship up again this season’’ added Giuseppe Luongo, President of Youthstream. ‘’With an expanded calendar building upon the success of last year and the prize of a ride on a Honda in the European EMX250 Championship in 2015, the series really adds another level to our championship and to our sport.”

  Entry to the championship includes provision of a fully prepared Honda CRF150R, transportation of the bike to the races, technical and coaching support, fuel and tyres. All riders have to do is arrive and compete.

  All the bikes are identical and strictly controlled, meaning a level playing field in which learning is promoted, and fair and equal racing in which rider talent is really highlighted. As an official support series to the FIM Motocross World Championship, the safety standards and medical support are also of the highest level possible.

  A pre-season FIM European Training Camp will also be organized for all participating riders to support in physical and mental development, helping nurture all the factors important for performance and to become a well-rounded motocross rider. Dates will be announced in due course.

  Applications for the Honda 150 European Championship are now open via www.honda150championship.com, so if you’re between 11-14 years of age and seeking a boost to your motocross career aspirations, sign up now and get yourself on a Honda CRF150R.
