On December 1st Ripon Motor Club held a presentation party for the Junior Members of the Saturday Summer Series, sponsored by Acklams Motorcycles of Harrogate at the Studley Royal Cricket Club on the outskirts of Ripon.
Most of the major Award and Trophy winners were present to receive their awards from a "Biker Stig" (Aka Joel Sadler) specially flown in by helicopter and then transferred by Trials Bike. The party was the idea of Paul Mugridge who took on the main organisation of the event with the support of the club committee.
This well supported series, run over 7 rounds, attracted riders from as far afield as Bishop Aukland in the north to Keighley in West Yorkshire. Approx. 60 people attended with catering supplied by the club and extras by rider’s families.
All participants received an award produced by Dave Mawer, who manufactured the awards for this year’s World Round held at Carlisle, goody bags were also handed out given by various benefactors.
David Horne, Oset Export Manager, brought two new bikes along to use as a wheel change race competition.
The courses for these events were plotted by Adam Blacker and Nigel Simpson and during the trials they can often be heard coaching the riders through the sections, especially the newby's.
