It is with great sadness that the ACU has learnt of the tragic death of young Connor Smith on Sunday 13th October. Connor tragically died following a racing accident while competing at the European Quad Cross of Nations as a member of Team GB at Cingoli in Italy.
The accident comes as a great shock to the quad racing scene in Britain, as Connor was very talented young rider with a great future in the sport. At the young age of 19, Connor had recently finished 6th in the British Championship.
The ACU would like to pass their condolences to his family and all his friends at this sad time and assure them that our thoughts and prayers are with them.
ACU Chairman Brian Higgins commented, “I know exactly what the family are going through at this time and our thoughts go out to them. In conjunction with our Insurance Brokers, Lockton’s, the ACU are doing everything possible to assist the family including the repatriation of Connor to the UK. Unfortunately, this does not happen as quickly as we would all like as there are certain procedures which have to be followed.”
