2013 International Six Day Enduro, Olbia, Sardinia Day Two Report
GB Junior Team 3rd, GB Trophy Team 6th

The ACU British ISDE Team had a day of gains and losses on day two of the 2013 International Six Days Enduro today in Sardinia. For the British Junior team a day of hard work pressing the lead riders was rewarded with a jump into third position. For the British Trophy team there was the loss of a rider – Jordan Rose sidelined with an injured hand.

ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: “But for Jordan’s misfortune we would have reported a wholly positive day today. Jordan was again riding well, leading the Trophy team, but then crashed on a downhill section of the course between tests four and five. His hand is being checked by doctors and we hope to have diagnosis tonight – however, he is out of the competition.

“The Trophy team nonetheless maintained a good pace today and have defended sixth place from the Swedish team. Now the job is to keep up the pace and avoid any more losses – we need all five remaining riders to finish to get a good result.

“The McCanney brothers, Danny and Jamie, have been getting faster and faster and are pushing the leading French riders in the Junior competition, finishing third and fourth (respectively) in the Junior times today. Equally Jack Rowland has had a good day and the team result was only 20-seconds off that of the second placed Italians. The attack may not have yet overcome France or Italy, but it’s dropped the Americans out of third and they now trail our lads by over three minutes.

“The support team is settling into a routine now and fitting nicely around the riders. Kathryn Sentence’s hydration tests have made sure the lads are neither dehydrated nor over-hydrated. And Jack Johns has seen to it each rider gets a warm-up massage before the start, then injury care and a shake-down massage at the end. It was well over 30ºC today so every assistance helps. And it’s looking to be more of the same tomorrow. We’ll push on!”
