2013 International Six Day Enduro, Olbia, Sardinia Day Three Report: GB Junior Team 3rd, GB Trophy T
A solid day for the ACU British ISDE Team today on day three of the 2013 International Six Days Enduro in Sardinia. For the British Junior team it was another day of pressuring the French and Italian teams that lay ahead of them. For the British Trophy team a strong day’s performance saw them consolidate their sixth place, having built a near five-minute gap over their pursuers.

ACU GB ISDE Team Manager, Dusty Martin: “Today was all about hard work. Mid week, the lads needed to dig in and keep putting in the fast times while not taking risks. It was hot and dusty again today – it gets tiring – and the course variation today offered up some highly technical riding. They all got through – Steve Holcombe with a scratch or two – but they got to the end of the day and are all good to go for day four.

“Jamie and Danny were again on the attack today, they are unrelenting, but the competition is white-hot in the Juniors. We haven’t been able to better our third place, but we’re still within easy striking distance and the Italians certainly can’t rest. I’m delighted with the Trophy team’s work rate today. Jamie Lewis rode really well and he’ll probably have a smile on his face tonight seeing his name one place ahead of Alex Salvini (E2 world champion) in the overall standings. Incredibly, after three hard days riding, Daryl, Jack (in the Juniors) and Tom are separated by just six seconds on accumulated time. Jason, Steve and Lee are all fighting hard as well. There’s no question this course doesn’t suit the British skill-set but the boys are adapting and are strong and motivated with two more whole days on the trails.

“They’re all flying through their hydration tests and massage sessions, showing they are fit and heeding the expert advice they’re getting. Tomorrow it’s all new tests, two of them will be classic grass tests like we see in Wales. They’re all itching to get going!”
