Derby Phoenix MCC heads to Mallory Park on September 15th

Friday September 6, 2013 at 2:17pm
Lee Wilson (MSG Suzuki 1000) holds a 21 point lead over Jamie Harrison (Honda 1000) going into the penultimate round of the ACU Clubmans’ Championship and the Derby Phoenix clubs 751-1300cc Four-stroke series at Mallory Park on September 15.

Carl Simpson (BMW 1000), who had led the championships before the last round at Croft, is third, 32 points down on Wilson.

With just six races to go, including the two here at Mallory, the completion has come down to a three-rider shoot-out.

Harrison tops the 700-1000cc Allcomers championship on 168 points, 25 ahead of Liam Marchant, who may miss this meeting as a result of injuries sustained at Croft. Wilson is third, 47 down on Harrison.

Stuart Martin, the younger brother of Guy Martin, remains top of the Derby Phoenix club’s Formula 600 championship standings, but his closest rival, Lee Wells has cut his lead from 39 points to 19.

Stuart Haslam, despite a disappointing weekend at Croft, stays third in the standings, but he is now 65 down on Martin and his chances of retaining the title are slim.

Wells holds a comfortable 56 points’ lead over Martin in the 175-675 Allcomers series.

Robert Mack (Kawasaki 650) had his worst meeting of the year at Croft and his lead over friend and closest rival, Stephen Tweddle (Suzuki 650) in the Club’s Mini Thunderbikes championship is down from 28 points to just one.

Callum Ward (Suzuki 250), the 19-year-old from Hull, leapt to the top of the Formula 400 championship points’ table.

He went from trailing the absent Dan Williams by 11 points to leading the series by 49.

Brian Alflatt/Heath Lane holds a slender ten point lead over Scott Parnell/ Mark Wilkes in the club’s F2 Sidecar championship

Practice starts at 9.00am with racing underway at 11.0am. Adult admission is £13.
