The Diss club hosted the sixth and final round of the Eastern Centre motocross championships at their Wattisfield Hall circuit on Sunday, sponsored by Bickers Lifting and MC Comps. Held in fine, sunny conditions, on a very well prepared circuit, the twelve race programme saw some closely fought racing.

Race one for the expert graded riders saw the champion, Carl Nunn, storming to the front, winning the twenty minute long race with ease. Nunn became champion for the third year running, leaving former champion, Chris Bastick, to take second place with Luke Benstead fighting through to third place after two crashes during the early stages. Nunn again led race two, with Benstead chasing him hard, and after fifteen minutes Benstead had narrowed the gap, and just as he mounted a challenge for the lead Nunn's bike came to a standstill with a broken chain, leaving Benstead with an easy win.

Bastick claimed second place again, leaving Brad Tomlin holding off Jason Morland and Aaron Pipon. The final experts race saw Bastick leading early on until an on form Benstead took over at the front. Nunn moved from fifth place to second within two laps but could not catch the Wisbech rider, who took the overall win on the day. The consistent Bastick was third at the finish, with Morland having to settle for fourth place after a hefty spill when chasing Bastick. Ben Talbot rode well for fifth place, with Tomlin sixth.

In the junior grade championship series leader Declan Whittle was on great form, taking the first race win to confirm him as the champion. Peterborough's Sean Avory had a good ride to fight through to finish second ahead of Matthew Dow and James Miles. Race two saw Tilbury youngster, Jordan Pasquale taking the win in fine style with Dow second ahead of Mark Sharman. Whittle had to fight from a midpack position to pass lots of riders to claim fourth place. In the final race Whittle led with Pasquale chasing hard, and these two were only inches apart for most of the race, which had the crowd on their toes, but eventually Whittle pulled clear to take the overall win on the day, as well as being crowned as Junior champion for 2013.

The supporting junior grade races saw veteran Dave Whitehead taking overall victory in the B group, and the C group winner was Michael Bowell with Andrew Smith second.
