West Leeds MC prepare for the White Rose Trial on September 8th

The wheels are turning in preparation for the White Rose Trial at Cam Head, high above the famed Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire on September 8th.

This real rugged old time national trial consumes manpower at an enormous rate as about 90% of the forty section course is totally off-road, remote, exposed and affords scenery that visitors from all over the world visit.

Nigel Crowther and his team will be rounding off the sections so expect Gritstones, Renee’s Gorge, Unreachable, (only by mule), Snaizholme, Cascades, Knocknee , B’stard, Troutbeck, and Easy Street. Nigel has some changes in mind.

Last year 104 riders took part in the trial which was won by Ian Austermhle from Richard Sadler and Michael Brown. Phil Alderson ran away with the 50/50 class while Stewart Oughton took the clubman category.

The trial went national in 1976 when Rob Shepherd won but West Leeds member Reg Roberts was the mastermind behind the Cam Fell venue and started planning the event in 1958 to run under a West Yorkshire Group permit. Reg’s brainchild came to fruition came in 1961 when Bill Wilkinson won what was an adventure in the Yorkshire Dales.

Entries close on September 1st but West Leeds is right on the high tech ball and their dedicated www.westleeds.co.uk/wronline will be an easy way to obtain and entry. Think no postage, no stamp, no hassle, just a small handling fee.  Get cracking or miss. Hawes, Ingleton and Aysgarth contain plenty of accommodation complete some great food and good ale.
