Sudbury MCC host 4 man enduro this Sunday

Monday August 5, 2013 at 4:14pm
In a few days time the second 4 Man Team Enduro will be staged at Tye Farm Great Cornard near Sudbury starting at 10am and running for five continuous hours.  The organisers, Sudbury Motor Cycle Club, are limiting the entry to 30 teams and so far 20 teams entries have been received.  This year the laps for this relay style event will be recorded by The Eastern Centre Electronic Timing System via transponders fitted to the machines.  The event although nonstop is split into 15 minutes sessions with each team member riding these sessions in rotation and at the end of each session the chequered flag goes out and then that team member must ride to the head of the starting bays where he will dismount, unclip his transponder then run in full riding gear to his team’s holding bay then hand over the transponder together with the numbered riding bib to his next team member who then run to the start line clip on the transponder to his bike and then ride his session.

At the end of the five hours it is the team which does the most laps win and if there is more than one team on the same number of laps it is then the first team pass the finish line that wins or obtain the higher placing. Last year when the overall session was 4 hours the first two teams completed 97 laps while the next two teams completed 95 laps so this year it is expected over 120 laps will be completed.

The 1966 British Moto Cross Champion, Freddie Mayes, is hoping to come along and watch this fun day spectacle and his younger brother Geoff who was the 1980 British Moto Cross Champion still rides in Enduros and Moto Cross today.
